Founded by three Los Angeles-based designers and one Taiwan-based designer, Sok-O produces products with an eye for high-quality design and a flair for playful ingenuity. Inspired by a deep-seeded passion of toys, the Sok-O artists make dolls that convey their excitement and ultimately inspire others.
Released in eight playful and colorful animal designs, the toys are each carefully handmade with a simple pair of socks (or in some cases one individual sock). Complete with individual birth certificates, no two are identical and make for unique, lovable and collectible gifts for all ages.
Through creative stitching, perfectly-placed accessories (a button for an eye or the opening of an elephant trunk) and the use of the existing textures and characteristics of the socks, each doll is incredibly transformed from something you wear to a lovable, cuddly character the whole family can snuggle with.
Sok-O started with the passion and vision of the founding designers: Caleb, Angie, Marcela and Daniel. Together they share the common goal of making quality toys with a unique touch and share it with the world - products people of any age can collect, appreciate, and fall in love with.
Being handmade and produced in limited runs, a Sok-O is a one-of-a-kind toy that you can share. And hopefully, when you give a Sok-O to someone in your life, he or she will feel just as special!
About the Artists:
Daniel With 20 years of experience in advertising, in 2005 he finally decided to leave the industry as a creative director and started to search for something that he could create with his heart - something that could seamlessly blend in with his life. He started by learning how to sew with needle and using left over socks and today the Sok-O line is a canvas for him to create what is closest to his heart.
Marcela Rojas Madonna & Frita Kahola continue to be my inspiration and the reason I will never give up. I live by the motto: Our greatest triumph is never falling but rising every time we fall. Ever since I could remember, I have always been drawing and creating stuff for others. Never wanting to grow up, I have always had a huge inclination to design for the childrens market. I am excited to see the worlds reaction to our brand, Sok-O, as this is only the beginning.
Angie Wang and Caleb Perng With backgrounds in graphic design and product design (and both Art Center College of Design graduates), we have teamed up to create something creative and fun. Its incredibly fulfilling to see someone smile when they pick up your product. We wanted to create toys that would be as exceptional and special as the children (and adults) who enjoy them. In todays world where uniqueness often falls by the wayside, we made it a priority that our dolls remind their owners that individuality is still something to be cherished. As designers, we are continually inspired by the numerous artists and designers around us that add color to our lives. We appreciate the inspiration we constantly find and hope that our products and designs will inspire others as well.
